We’re excited to invite you to the July meeting of the Summerville Tourism Council, a quarterly gathering of local hospitality professionals, merchants, nonprofit leaders, and public figures who are passionate about growing tourism in our town.
This month’s Tourism Council speaker is retired Air Force veteran, community servant, and amateur historian Ken Battle. Ken will highlight the remarkable life of Kitty Springs, a woman of color and philanthropist whose quiet dedication helped shape the well-being of Summerville during some of its most trying times. Although her name is not widely known, Kitty Springs made a lasting impact through her perseverance, generosity, and deep commitment to her community. Her story—once overlooked—is now being brought to light. He will also share about Summerville’s Black History Trail.
You do not need to be a Chamber member to attend this meeting. Anyone with a stake in local tourism and hospitality is welcome.
